Astral Ships: Ship Lingo


Well, in game a lot of lingo may not be used, however, the player base will be using it likely to coordinate the Astral Ship group. Here is some quick common lingo that you should burn into your mind well before you start to explore the Astral as a ship crew member.

Aft – The rear (stern) of the ship.
Berth – A ship landing, such as a pier, dock, quay, or hanger.
Bow – The front (fore) of the ship.
Fore – The front of the ship.
Gangway – The teleport of which you enter and leave the ship.
Helm – The ship’s steering system.
Knot – A unit of speed that means one nautical mile
League – A unit of measurement. It means about 3.45 nautical mile.
Nautical Mile – 6,080.2 feet, versus a land mile of 5,280 feet.
Pitch – Rise and fall of the ship’s bow.
Port – The left side of the ship when facing toward the bow (front).
Starboard – The right side of the ship when facing toward the bow (front).
Stern – The rear of the ship.
Yaws – To stray away from an already established course.
