Chests and Runes = Random

A lot of the community hates the changes made in chests. Dejan also known as Daex tested a bunch of chests with runes and handed his results over to me, with a beautiful spreadsheet. I have tested several chests with runes myself and feel they were random.

Daex also tested this with Exotic Chests. Here are the results that Daex came up with:

There was nothing in the patch notes about this, and this change had put a cramped style in how a lot of us earn gold by collecting chests and putting runes in to get money. Several people, including myself put runes in chests to effect the kind of gear that we were looking for. Like if you need a new weapon, you can rune it to be a weapon or even a leather piece.

There is a good chance this could be a bug.

What are your thoughts on this? Can you spot a pattern? We sure can’t!

wish I could just look at it later without having to register for another site.
but what I did see, was a lot of randomness, I thought I saw one pattern, but after closer look it wasn’t.

    This is still helpful.

I made this one based on research of some RU player. (sry, i cant remember where i found source)

Its handy to print and its pretty accurate

    • We have one here: http://novogradtimes.com/guides/runes-reference-guide/runes-and-chests/

But the problem is that the last patch made these inaccurate.

It is very unlikely that they made something like this on purpose, as Ashkir said, they might as well forbid us to even put runes in chests along with this.

Also huge thanks to Sienna and Kluffy for help with gathering data for this!

Ugh… this is a terrible change that I can only hope is a bug, otherwise, why even bother with runes? Hopefully Astrum Nival will address this sooner, rather than later.

Random stuff is great for getting players to play the lottery. I can’t stand it, though, and it was nice to have chests that were deterministic. Giving players control in complex but not imbalanced aspects of the game is a *good* thing.

I don’t see a pattern there, but there might be something in the item names or stats. *shrug*
